Ok, so I am curious, I’m not totally opposed to move fast and break things, but on a moving train?

This may be one of those projects I’m ok with a little over time and over budget.

Oh I think Elon is on board with over budget ... when it gets to his company.

Excluding the obvious rage posts about how dare the bastard..

All systems should be subject to scrutiny especially ones that control the lives of people, if it has faults, then they should be addressed, if it is not fit for purpose it should be replaced with a completely open tender process and adequate timelines.

I know a lot of software guru's who see the ATC system as a smaller problem than harder probelms such as self-driving, as there is less traffic and aircraft work in 3D space but there are many edge case scenario's in every complex system, a ten minute brief for an X soundbyte is not going to uncover them, but a thorough analysis by a tight team of specialists might.

I have no skin in this game but when I'm at 30000 feet flying at 500MPH, I would like to think these systems are getting scutinised.

Well I guess that explains the weird Trump ramble about how you can't connect "land to satellites"

> And the first thing that some experts told me when this happened is you can’t hook up land to satellites, and you can’t hook up satellites to land. It doesn’t work. And we spent billions and billions of dollars trying to renovate an old, broken system, instead of just saying, “Cut it loose, and let’s spend less money and build a great system.” Done by two or three companies — very s- — good companies, specialists. That’s all it is.

Sounds like Musk's first thought was "How can I profit from these tragic deaths?"

Dude wants a kleptocracy.

Yeah, because SpaceX is so expert at creating air traffic control software.

This looks like Musk is finding ways to leverage his position into huge amounts of new business for his companies. That is, it looks a lot like graft.
